Comment:

I grew up in St. Louis with roots deep in the Ozarks. I live about 700 miles from that area now, but it's still my spiritual home. I guess the place where you grow up always has a claim on your soul. This tape is an ode to lost youth, to my family,* and a meditation on passing time.

* Wabash Cannonball is for my paternal grandfather who used to work there, and the Tom Simpson Piece is by my maternal grandfather who is playing the fiddle on a tape made by a field recorder (who can be heard introducing the tune and playing the pump organ - unfortunately the sound on this cut is not the best).

This looks great! I like the different versions of "St. Louis Blues" that start it off, and John Denver redeemed a whole lot of sins with that version of "So It Goes." Nice job.

Thanks. Yeah, I've never been a big John Denver fan or Michael Murphey either, but I really like their songs on the Circle vol. 2 album.
And may I add that I really admire your Crippled Hand CDs.

I know that Missouri does have *some* beauty, but it's definately not around my area. Great mix.
