Comment:
This mix was much harder than the first, considering I DID not own anything by the man (a problem with which I found a quick solution :) ) but I quickly realized what Mr. Yancey contributed to rock and roll: the carefree feeling in the rhythms. He invented the boogie-woogie style of playing piano, a style that has the left hand playing a rip-roaring melody and the right hand thumping out the rhythms. Definitely belong in the Hall as an early influence! The next disc in the series will be Sam Cooke and will be posted by tomorrow night, depending on when I completely finish it. After that comes Robert Johnson and Fats Domino. See you all on the flipside!Feedback:
I love this series. Keep 'em coming!
