Comment:
Intelligence. Lots of it. They are the Martin Luther King's of the hip hop world (I suppose that makes Dead Prez the Malcolm X). A good message, intense rhymes, and some mind boggling vocabulary delivered with meaning and not just for the sake of the rhyme scheme (as many underground hip hop artists are sadly guilty of). This disc is mostly for me to avoid the unpleasant business of switching CD's but I have a feeling I'll be giving a few to my friends in another vain attempt to push my musical preferences on them. Anyway, many thanks to Talib Kweli and Mos Def and that beat-master Hi-Tek (from the 'Nattie don't you know...) for a slice of music with some heart. Good job folks.Feedback:
Where's The Manifesto? That's Talib Kweli's best song. Obviously you aren't the Kweli fan I thought you were... A pox on thee!
Class mix.
i second p.p's comment on the lack of "manifesto" but the mix looks really good. i like the idea of starting a mix off with astronomy. i might have to steal that.
down for the count replaces the manifesto, i think. wonderful job.
cool stuff.. i might've added black star's 'brown skin lady,' dj honda with mos def on 'travellin man'... and kweli's 'good morning'..... just personal faves
two of those were among the last two songs cut. jeez. talk about deja vu.
nice picks, posing. so did your shit bounce back to you again or what? my mailbox is so lonesome it could cry.
good mix, but it'd be hard for me to leave off "Respiration", "the Hard Margin", and "Another World" if I were doing this...probably my 3 favorite Mos Def/Talib Kweli tracks.
well rest assured everyone who I wronged..i am making the leap and turning this into a cassette and that means another 20 minutes worth of songs. if you have anymore suggestions (or other comments of like nature) feel free to leave them for me and all others to see.
