Comment:

For fans of Yo La Tengo's Fakebook: Okay, I just want to say that I'm totally aware that Can't Forget and I Can't Forget are two completely different songs, but the latter is a cover of a Leonard Cohen song and it's the Pixies for chissakes, so there you go, bitch all you want, it's staying. So is What Comes Next (which I believe is an original song for Fakebook, and is in its original form.) And, yeah, I know the Purple Ivy Shadows didn't originally record The Summer. It's a cover though, so get off my fucking back! Also added are additional versions of Speeding Motorcycle, Here Comes My Baby and Tried So Hard. Look, no typos. Yo La Tengo really should invest in a computer and word processor. Didn't you find their typewritten liner notes highly irritating? Mine are so much neater. I knew you'd agree.

Hey, hey, hey! I've been trying to find a couple of these originals for years - this is a bitchin' collection. Oddly enough, I think Fakebook is still my fave output of theirs. Let me know what I can swap you for this - it' awesome. Also, check out this week's theonion.com for a really funny article about Yo La Tengo fans. Now, was "Tried So Hard" originally recorded by Gene Clark? I have his version, but I can't recall who recorded it first. Great, and much needed job!

To clarrify the question about "Tried So Hard". Gene Clark recorded it first. This is a swell mix. I love "Fakebook". It just might be one of my fave "cover" recordings. Good job tracking the originals down. I recall when the record was first issued, they had this contest where you had to identify all the original artist. I was pretty happy to get 'em all but I wasn't the first to respond or wasn't chosen in the random drawing. Perhaps it was you. I have no clue what the prize was. I think it was the entire Bar/None catalogue or something Glenn Morrow was pushing at the time.

Wow, thanks everyone for your feedback. I'm new to the site--Buglady coerced me into it. I don't really have that much experience doing mixed CDs, but look for future theme-oriented stuff from me. What a lovely service this is.
