Comment:
Another sort of memorial mix, but this one is a lot more upbeat. I made this originally when I was around 24 years old, on a visit to my parent's house. I tried to represent both of them in this mix. My dad loved Jazz (especially dixieland, cool jazz and big bands) and classical music, while my mom was fond of bluegrass, old country and folk music. They overlapped once in a while, and both enjoyed pop vocals. This really captures what it was like growing up in my household. Some notable exclusions include Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline...but that is another volume, I guess. I will probably give a copy of this one to my mom for mother's day.Feedback:
This looks really sweet.
Very inspiring. Nice choices.
You ARE making me a copy, yes?
Sure, garko, right away!!! =)
Yeah, this is quite quite nice ...
this is a beautiful mix! Not a bad way to grow up. Mine was sortof Jack Jones vs. Cream, Henri Mancini vs. Jimi Hendrix- Ha! My mom was the Jack Jones lover, by the way. They now both share a love for Willie Nelson and Chris Rea. ???? I opted for X and Bauhaus as my rebellion. I like alot of both of their stuff now. But I did get them into Ben Harper and Rufus Wainwright.
I'd love a copy of this baby sometime, bug!
I'd love a copy of this baby sometime, bug!
that is, if you still even have it??!
this one just turned up in my Engelbert Humperdinck search! Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Mills Brothers, TN Ernie Ford... so much great stuff here, lucky you. (growing up in my household meant John Denver and Barbra Streisand.) Happy New Year, buglady. will 2008 be the year of your triumphant return to AotM? pretty please?
