Comment:

I met a guy at a concert who was selling t-shirts for his brother's band in SoCal in (I think) '93. Really cool guy named Matt Page. He and his brother Steven were from Canada and we talked a bunch, he was really cool, we wrote back and forth a bit, and he sent this tape. I'm sure I sent something back, if nothing else, then a tape of my band at the time. I must say he had excellent taste, mentioned that "These songs could be called Matt Page's Canadian Essentials even though this tape is Rheostatic Heavy. -Like I said, the Rheos are incredible! -It's a shame you can't get Stephen Duffy's new album in the states. That's why I put a song from it on this tape" (he did mention that SD wasn't canadian) What do I like? Well, the Rheos *are* incredible, esp. "Horses" (I also like the song "Queer" from the Whale Music album), "Midas I'd Be" is very well done, the Gravelberrys song is *such* great pop that it freaks me out, all the Corky stuff is hilarious, the Waltons and the K. Swinghammer tune are great also. Thanks, Matt!!
