Comment:

A weird mix of German girls' stuff from ca. 1965-present "commissioned" by "Pumpin'" Ion Moe (dunno if this is exactly what you expected, dude). Some German listeners may find this mildly offensive. Lovers of the strange, the exotic and the genuine good stuff, though, will probably love it. Have a bite!

Bravo! This looks incredible Thomas! Thanks so much for putting this together. You will be rewarded. And to anyone reading this, check out Mr. Mohr's "From Berlin to Babylon: German Pop A to Z" for more wonderful stuff from his homeland.

Mein Gotts! Das ist sehr gut! Ich liebe diese mix...., in another life i'd have hunted Elisa Gabbai and, um..done things. My perspective of the German Music Scene has changed 320 degrees because of this mix. (Thomas: I have that Propaganda cut on vinyl!) Ahhh, "Tu Es!!!!" yesssssssss. I could gush on. Suffice it to say if you're perusing the Mohr vault looking for something to trade for....this will make you smile, uncontrollably! Richtig!

...when I was done with Elisa (to our mutual satisfaction) I might have to track down "Nixe"....!

This mix was commended by valis, and as I trust his taste implicity, I've gotta ask if you'd be interested in a trade as this does indeed look wonderful. I'd ask for Nina Hagen alone (I burned everything I had of hers in a marijuana induced fit of fear), but everything else on this looks interesting as well. Let me know if you'd be willing to set something up.

Daliah Lavi is noticeable by her absence.....! She deserves her own label!

Well...the always frightening Nina Hagen and the, almost always, frightfully good Nico, bookending mostly unfamiliar, to me, German voices. Having taken a bite, I can't get enough. Keep going back for seconds, thirds, etc. Maybe Valis and I can traipse over to Germany together and while he's tracking/stalking Suzie and Elisa, I'll peel off after Barbara and Marion. Valis, the plane tickets are in the mail...

Hey, I see this mix got popular months after you posted it. Good to see it's finally getting the recognition it deserves. Can't wait for the next one!

year-end browsing prompts me to commnt on this mix, which i was a bitch about responding to more promptly. i think this is probably the best mix i've received all year, especially because you included wonderful liner notes too. ;) the little i knew paled in comparison to the wonderful stuff that i DIDN'T know -- i loved Concord, Barbara Morgenstern, Quarks, Elisa Gabbai, Die Sweetles, ... not a weak track, really. I have a hard time remembering the specific names of some of the 60's era artists, but all of it is dreamy and super yum. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR A WONDERFUL MIX. we should do it again sometime. ;) Round II in 2003?

Recently rediscovered this classic, as well as the extensive liner notes. A mix for the ages. And yes, I know I owe you an extensive e-mail. You shouldn't have to wait much longer :) (not that you're sitting around waiting or anything...)
