Comment:
Oh what can I possibly say except this mix depresses the hell out of me. Last year hearlded the peaks and valleys of my young life, but it's easier to concentrate on those valleys because they were sooo low. Without a doubt the most thouroughly upsetting year of my life (this year being among the best however). It all has to do with a girl as well, but I guess any horrible time spent in school has at least something to do with a girl...I never meant to reciprocate her feelings for me and when I finally did she dealt me a shocking blow by falling for someone else (someone awful mind you, a drug dealing stoner saxophone masta) and thus I began my quest to win her back, more to prove to myself and the world that I was not a fluke of her emotions and that I was way cooler than that Advanced Jazz Band bastard...Going through all of these songs in detail would break my spirit ten times over but here are some tiny explanations for a few of them. The mix is divided between songs that remind me of that awful time because of their subject matter and songs that remind me of that awful time for various other reasons. Lots of sexual typed songs because that was the buzz word last year (no wait...the buzz word was making love...). "Jaded" is there because she taught me to look through this world with jaded eyes and thus every horrible event will seem less horrible because I now expect horrible things to happen. "The Creeps" because she used to give me the creeps with her eyes alone..."Pity" because for a time I pitied her and all those like her. "Electioneering" and "White Riot" beacuase they are the songs I associate with walking to her house at about noon (Electioneering) and walking home and coming face to face with cruel crisp winter air (White Riot). "Kick out the Jams" because once when she was playing around on my bass she said for no apparent reason, "Let's kick out the jams." and I found that incredibly endearing. The telling line in "Ladies Nite in Loserville" is "i fuck to cum, don't lay your repressed shit on me, I fuck to cum, fuck your blessed trinity"...So girls want sex as well do they? Great..."Session" is about a guy and a girl who have a no strings attached relationship of sex with no titles and how it isn't clear if he's got it made or if he wants something more (you want something more you damned fool!) and the AFI song has the infamous chorus of "I don't want to fuck you, don't want to fuck you, I don't want to fuck you, don't want to fuck you, So fuck you!". Once again, I never intend to me a notch on anyone's belt. "A Credit to His Gender" is about the double standard of the sexes, the important line is "You call her a whore, she's just the same as you, but she could never be that shallow." And yes, I did call her a whore, and yes I do regret it. "Paint it Black" is represented because towards the end of her relationship with the saxophone fool she and I were discussing what color to paint her room (her door included I suppose) and I said, "Paint it black," to an incredulous reaction. She missed the reference I guess. "Bizarre Love Triangle" is obvious and "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is even more so. Anyway...For an update on that whole situation a few months after all this shit went down she gave me an engagement ring and asked me to marry her. I respectively declined. For now...Feedback:
Cool mix. Sorry about the fucked-up situation that spawned it...
good mix.
What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger - and introduces you to lots of nice music, usually.
very cool, esp the closer...i like that cover better than the original ;)
can't believe i read that whole thing, she's trouble with a capital t. please, please, please, tell me you won't marry her!
Great mix. And fyi, I think most girls do like sex, but I think the majority prefer it with emotion too.
i am fairly certain the majority do enjoy the emotion aspect. but there's always the exception to the rule. no wedding plans yet.
this sounds too familiar to me..... minus the engagement ring part. great music too. just curious, how'd you win her back?
Wicked motivation for a mix; I guess you could've bled yourself like in medieval times, but... wow. Don't marry her; no, no, NO! Out.
aw hell prof, she seems nice enough. and what an enthusiastic dancer! oh, and you're a fag for supporting afi.
i have no idea how i won her back to tell you the truth, it stll hasn't made sense to me, but i've been fairly horrible to her without meaning to be. oh yeah, and conor, i am a total fag for supporting afi, inasmuch you are a fag for your entire "punk" mix (i.e. not at all since you were trying to educate "Gwen" and not really enjoying the music). But maybe you meant I kept typing "she" when I clearly as the gay i am) meant to be typing "he". Who knows...P.S. You are so alt-country.
