Comment:
Volume one of a two-part series; requested by Pam Steele months ago. The discs focus primarily on his Capitol output from the 50's and branch into a bit of his 60's Reprise stuff. Say what you will about him as a(n) (in)human being, Ol' Blue Eyes could really turn a melodic phrase in his day. As a last note, some of my favorite Sinatra records--"No One Cares", "Where Are You?" and "Close to You", in particular--were short-shrifted in terms of the quantity of songs used due to the limitations imposed by the "thematic" feel of those albums.Feedback:
Wonderful stuff, Rob.
yes of course it's wonderful and for my never ending series of songs that Rob missed , what about one of my favs "Michael and Peter" ? ;-)
Infallible, Rob. My eclectic friend!
wow rob. chet baker one week, frank sinatra the next- i bet the marriage proposals are FLYING in at this point. a great collection. ahhh....lady is a tramp, a rosie karaoke favourite...
Great job. As with everyone else on the planet, I love Frank Sinatra.
Oh yeah, the Chairman of the Board is # 1 for me. My fave is one I spun all the time when I was about 6 because me mum bought it for me out of the "bag o singles" bin at the 5 and dime: French Foreign Legion. Probably a Bside, but I forget.
Question: did he ever do a version of On the Street Where You Live? I've devoted an admittedly small amount of energy looking, but have not found.
