Comment:
sleater-kinney. one of the great kill rock star bands. they transcended the "riot grrl" label and created an interesting brand of music. disarmingly personal lyrics delivered with the unbridled rage of operatic cherubs. corin & carrie's duelling guitars and vocals make up for the fact that janet's innovative drumming is the only part of the rhythm section present. this is in no means a limitation. simply stated--an amazing band.Feedback:
Nice. If one of our fellow AotM'ers furnishes me the rarities discs that she promised, I'm going to be doing one of these, as well.
i am in complete agreement about their amazing-ness. i've been following them for years. this is a nice chronology, but i don't know "maraca". what is that from?
thanks for the positive feedback! i tried to include the choice picks from the albums that i have on vinyl. which would be all of them except for the first one. (i have that on cd) i also included a song from each of the three 7"s that i own. maraca is from the YNRNRF single. an amazing band on record--they sound even better live. i was lucky enough to see them in new orleans (with versus, another great band) and chicago (with white stripes, before all the hype).
Hey man, the White Stripes are a phenomenal band even *after* the hype... I just saw them again three weeks ago and it was one of the five best rock 'n' roll experiences of my life...
i like the white stripes. i'm just saying that they are getting an unreal amount of hype. great band though. but enough about them, more about s-k!
agrees with all rob's talking (except for the mix making one...i don't think i have the expertise for a sleater-kinney mix) and strongly seconds the white stripes being cool live thing.
ahhhh! this is a sleater-kinney mix.
