Songs of World War II
Comment:
Before it was his TV theme song, Bob Hope sang "Thanks for the Memory" to U.S. servicemen over the radio airwaves and on his U.S.O. tours all over the world. Back at home the Andrews Sisters swore their undying devotion in the hit tearjerker "I'll Be with You in Apple Blossom Time." Comic bandleader Spike Jones yucked it up on "Sailor with the Navy Blue Eyes," while Gene Autry paid tribute with "Old Soldiers Never Die, They Just Fade Away." Even Southern bluesman Sonny Boy Williamson chimed in with a wailin' "Win the War Blues."
