Comment:
Mixed for Summer Burton, if she wants it, while feeling somewhat sick on this, the eve of my 31st birthday. With that in mind, I prepared it more as a chronicle of what's going on in my musical world than anything else, but I think it may be up her alley. Thanks to garko for "Emulsified" (you have no *idea* how long I was searching for that original version!) and to p the swede for the studio version of "Willin'" (I haven't owned those early studio Feat records in forever but now I want to all over again). Title from the brand-spanking-new-but-classic Wilco track.Feedback:
mighty impressive, sir.
This is a fantastic looking mix, a great combination of songs!
Rob-- Nice mix, great songs! Happy Birthday, I hope you feel better soon (I got sick yesterday, too!)
Rex Garvin is great, familiar with the yo la tengo version?
nice mix Adverts, T.rex and Magazine songs are all among my fav songs of all time, BTW congratulations

and of course that Little feat track is amazing, but you know that ;-)
good stuff. happy birthday again.
Okay, all at once now--"Happy Birthday to you, happy..." Oh never mind. Another fine mix sir. Hope to see you posting on the eve of your 41st birthday.
This is fantastic, Rob - so many great songs on here I love. And I wish you a very happy 31st birthday. I think my 31st year was pretty good, although it's getting so long ago that I hardly remember it!
nice one, Rob. I especially like the Moby Grape, T rex and Chuck Berry pix.
this kicks some behind - great mix.
Hope you're feeling better, babe. You missed a fun show last night.
great stuff, rob. and happy b-day, you mangy ol' dog! i'll make sure to down a beer in your honor the next time i'm out...
great Incredible String Band- track
& Happy Birthday from Austria ;-)
& Happy Birthday from Austria ;-)
Didn't want to save Permafrost for the next romantic mix? Happy Birthday Rob. Thirty one is around the time I decided all popular new music was crap & anyone younger than me was a lazy bum.
oh man ... just moved out of my house so i haven't checked aotm in forever but so excited for this to be the first mix i see. so excited, can't wait for it, will love to have it!
"Alright boys, let's get way out there." Damn, i love that meat puppets song. Good T. Rex and Low choices too.
Nice mix, Rob. I like the Carla Thomas pick. BTW--I've burned copies of my Chameleons disks for our trade (finally)--I need your address so I can mail them.
The San Quentin version of "Jackson" is the greatest version ever of a tremendous song ... one of the best single live recorded songs ever ... nice ...
Nice mix & happy b-day...!
Ah, my favourite Moby Grape and Little Feat tunes. This is lovely Rob.
I don't know how I missed this. The songs I know are fine, and the ones I don't know probably are as well. Great use of Wilco. And props for the relative obscurity of Mr. Simon Joyner.
oh my, i still haven't heard the original "Emulsified". lucky you.
Very nice, though I confess I'm completely clueless as to some of these choices. I was wondering though...You seem to have an affection for Jeff Tweedy and Wilco(referring to both this and the Uncle Tupelo collection), but I haven't seen a Wilco mix. Is this an issue of time, or not finding enough you liked on the first three albums, and Billy Bragg collaborations? Judging by your outrageous number of single-artist mixes I could certainly understand if you just never got around to it. Anyhow, well done.
I haven't done a Wilco mix because I don't have any rarities/b-sides/unreleased material, etc., plus I don't have the first album (more or less because I can't stand it aside from "Passenger Side", "I Must Be High" and maybe another track or two that I'm forgetting). If you've got some uncollected stuff of theirs, though, I'd be interested in trading for it.
