Okay...the odd doubling of theme comes entirely from this tape's centerpiece, the two Komar & Melamid pieces. (For info, see http://www.diacenter.org/km/musiccd.html) It's from those that the curious holidays/cowboys thing arises. Oh - the two state songs are kinda in-jokey: the first one's mine, the second one commemorates the non-existant state of No. Dakota (see, it sez right there it doesn't exist).
