Comment:

After years of not listening to much of Little Feat, I'm slowly beginning to realize just what a unique and sadly lost talent Lowell George was. It didn't hurt that he had a great band backing him up, either. This 80-minute disc is compiled using the first three studio albums--"Little Feat", "Sailin' Shoes" and "Dixie Chicken"--and the legendary live album, "Waiting for Columbus". I was actually planning on using the fourth album, "Feats Don't Fail Me Now", as well, but upon re-purchasing and listening to it yesterday, I discovered that it sounds disconcertingly like a Doobie Brothers record... in my world, *not* a good thing (it will definitely be traded in the next couple of days, as a result). Although a couple of these songs are perhaps better performed on "Columbus" (notably "Fat Man" and "Dixie Chicken"), I opted to go for the brevity of the studio tracks in order to fit more early classics on this CD. Enjoy.

Just the other day I was thinking I should check out Little Feat again. I haven't heard of their stuff in years.

I don't know, Rob. I still think you should order that "Goin' South" collection ;-) Yeah, that Doobie Bros. sound was really disconcerting.

Did you happen upon the Lowell George solo "Thanks, I'll Eat it Here"? Really nice, (mostly mellow for George), no incendiary slide guitar, darn it, but really great. Also, some interesting cuts on the Lowell George tribute album, (can't think of the name) but that's a tribute record that could be done again ...
