This week, La Lista covers some of the artists who have taken the bachata style of the Dominican Republic and brought it into a more modern setting or, in some cases, repurposed songs to fit into the bachata style. Of course you'll also find some traditional examples, as well. The bachata is generally played with an electric guitar (or amplified acoustic guitar), providing a lilting lead while the minimal percussion keeps things danceable. Below you'll find artists such as Maná, Juan Luis Guerra, and Monchy Y Alexandra delivering some sweet bachata sounds.
