Comment:

For Liv. The title is modified from the beatles song, and I tried to put on songs that were a) old; and b) dance-able. However, as you can see from side b I ran out of songs and started bunging on any old thing. Does anyone know a group from Liverpool other than the Beatles that I can put on after Mersey Paradise to make myself seem clever? And is there any way to segue from motown to nerdy germans? Bah, who am I kidding. All my tapes are this disjointed.

nice mix. Life is disjointed, and music reflects this. A lot of really good tunes in this selection

Feel free to correct my erroneous history,
but I think Herman's Hermits, The Dave Clark Five, Peter and Gordon,
and Freddy and the Dreamers came from Liverpool.
Also, check out the Kaisers, a retro Scots quartet
from the mid-90s who did a spot-on aping of vintage
Merseybeat. Also, the quickest segue from Motown
to Germans would probably be the Flying Lizards or
maybe The Eurythmics. But you're right; there should be no
science when it comes to mix tapes. Rely on instinct!

The Dave Clark Five were assuredly not from Liverpool, they were from Lahndahn.

Nice stuff. Some other Liverpool bands include the Boo Radleys, Echo & the Bunnymen, Lightning Seeds, the Farm, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and The Yachts. Oh, and the La's too.
