Comment:
In memory of one of the greatest bands of the past 20 years, which formally disbanded over the past couple of months. Kurt Bloch is an absolute gent, an ace songwriter, and a guitar hero for our age. Mike Musburger is a drumming god. And Lulu and Kim are two of the most pleasantly human-sounding pop vocalists this side of Robert Wyatt. There will probably be a volume two, as it *hurt* me to remove "They Don't Care", "Lose", "Trumpets Are Loud", "And You"... the list goes on. It was tough including nothing from "New Mansions in Sound", "The Question is No" or "Win, Lose or Both", as well as ignoring their beautiful repertoire of covers, but that will be rectified on volume two.Feedback:
WOW cool mix Rob I like it a lot.
Nice stuff.
Finally - a relevant artist to devote a comp to!!! Great selection of songs. Pity the poor Fastbacks. Greatest shows I have ever seen. Nicest people I have ever met. Brilliant playing. Brilliant songs. This is what rock n roll is all about. Fuckin' A!
Rob, I know almost nothing about this band...perhaps a trade when you get caught up?
i actually never cared about them, only a few songs on Subpop comp, but this looks good, as always
Another artist I'm guiltily oblivious to. Maybe you'd like to swap for my latest mix, "Passion Looks Like I'm Losing Control Of My Language", heh, heh (hey, just testing you Rob).
Excellent. Sad to hear that they've called it day, but they certainly had a good run. Looking forward to volume two. Lulu and Kim were certainly not the greatest vocalists in the world, but they made up for with their infectious singing and harmonies.
Ace job, Rob. A fitting tribute, can't wait to see disc two.
yay! many fond memories of seeing these guys play around seattle. fun!
