No ordinary MC, Canibus has been ruffling the feathers of fellow rhyme slayers since the mid-'90s, when he shined as a costar in such street-savvy singles as "Beasts from the East." The Jamaican rapper even earned the respect of the Wu-Tang Clan early on, as he held his own in an impromptu, tongue-twisting Buffalo, NY, battle. In the decade since, he's gone from Next Big Thing status to something far more dangerous: the unflinching, decidedly underground attack of his mix tape appearances (the "Victory"/Notorious B.I.G.-referencing "Shogun") and three inflammatory Babygrande albums ([i]Mic Club[/i], [i]Hip-Hop for $ale[/i], and [i]Rip the Jacker[/i], which features the stellar boom-bap beats of Jedi Mind Tricks' Stoupe).
