Maybe none of them was actually named Tony, but as R&B innovators with a bone-deep respect for history, Oakland brothers Dwayne and Raphael Wiggins, and cousin Timothy Christian — a.k.a. Tony! Toni! Toné! — were truly the real deal. So while their signature smash, “Feels Good,” balanced tradition and trend by blending retro vocals with cutting-edge beats, tracks like the jumpin’ life lesson “Born Not to Know” caught the ears of a crossover audience to boot.
