Hot Hot Heat
Comment:
After ditching its first incarnation as a punked-up synth outfit (check out "Haircut Economics," recorded before signing to Seattle label Sub Pop in 2001), Hot Hot Heat picked up massive impetus by harnessing a souped-up new wave engine to a plush interior of melody and snazzy paint-job of lyrical wit. The perma-fizzing result can be heard in tracks like "Bandages" from their 202 full-length debut, Make Up the Breakdown, and the outstanding "Middle of Nowhere" from 2005's follow-up, Elevator. The loss of guitarist Dante DeCaro (over creative differences) is unlikely to douse their flame, judging by white-hot 2007 cuts like "Let Me In."
