Comment:
This mix is for Rob Conroy. The story behind the title relates to an article I read a long time ago in a small-town paper. Basically, this guy decided to set up a business as an ice-cream man who only drives his van around town and sells ice-cream at night. The reason given for this stroke of marketing insanity was that it offered the public a service no other ice-cream vendor had previously offered. Obviously. Anyway, most people said this man was clearly mad and objected to hearing 'Popeye the Sailor Man' blaring from cranky loudspeakers at 4 in the morning. And after all, it was illegal. So he was immediately banned from playing music from his rusty old van. Inevitably, the poor guy went out of business (after just 5 weeks). He now works in a bank. One of the most hilariously tragic tales I've ever read. I'd really like to have known what he was thinking as drove the deserted seaside streets long after midnight.Feedback:
how did he get a job in a bank?
yeah, i'll bet he was selling "ice cream" late at night. more like "nice dreams", maybe (pardon the gratuitous cheech and chong reference). great mix, juanno.
Good stuff, Juan.
"Nice Dreams"! Good one teapin! Great mix Juan, but no room for Van Halen's "Ice Cream Man"? ;)
OMG, what a great story. There's a little-known song you should check out if you can find it, "Popsicle Man" by Victims of Luxury.
