Comment:

From the instant the Sex Pistols opened for his pub rock band, Bazooka Joe, Stuart Goddard knew he had to jump on board the new wave bullet train. Goodbye, Stuart — hello, Adam Ant. After three years, Adam & The Ants finally scored a deal, but despite a cult following for their dark, post-punk glam sound, they didn't break wide, and Ant hired punk svengali Malcolm McLaren as manager. What McLaren did was to lift the Ants, minus Adam, to back his protégé Anabelle Lwin in Bow Wow Wow, and the second set of Ants emerged from the nest. Signing with CBS, they retooled their sound to shape the new romantic movement, topping the charts with Kings of the Wild Frontier. A year and change later, Ant went solo, moving into a more pop-rock sphere. Constantly evolving (including a stint as an actor), Ant remains one of new wave's most enigmatic and complex figures.
