When Savage Garden split in October 2001 after just two studio albums (notching up an incredible 23 million in global album sales), Darren Hayes struck out alone with [i]Spin[/i] and confirmed — with tracks like "Crush (1980 Me)" and "Strange Relationship" — that the well of emotion in his voice was still full. His follow-up — [i]The Tension and the Spark[/i] — took risks with darker lyrics against a backdrop of more experimental electronica (check out "Unlovable"), and 2007's [i]This Delicate Thing We've Made[/i] would appear on his own label, Powdered Sugar; "Step into the Light" has gone stellar in clubland.
