Troubled genius Pete Doherty is never far from the tabloids, so it's sometimes easy to forget the real reasons why we should be obsessed with him: i.e. fabulous tracks like these. Pin your ears back and take in the beautifully slurred poetry of "Albion" with Babyshambles, the gorgeously doomed escapism of "For Lovers" with Wolfman, the charming hookups with Littl'ans ("Their Way" and "The Other Way"), and the Clash-strapped charity track "Janie Jones" (for Strummerville: the Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music). There's so much brilliance here, in our selection of Doherty's work outside the Libertines, we can only cross our fingers and hope there's more where this came from.
