Shack tended to fly under most folks' radar for a long time, and if that rings true for you, we're sure that this sampler of their best work will engender lasting and loyal devotion. Currently signed to Noel Gallagher's Sour Mash label (check out the 2006 singles "Tie Me Down" and "Cup of Tea"), the band was formed by Liverpudlian brothers Mick and John Head from the embers of the Pale Fountains in '86. Over the course of a dissolution, a reformation, and a near-disaster (the master tapes for the album [i]Waterpistol[/i] were lost in a studio fire, and the only remaining DAT copy was left in a rental car in L.A. before it was ultimately recovered), songwriter-in-chief Mick has channelled the spirit of Love and the Byrds through the filters of his genius to produce a matchless catalogue of gorgeous melodic English rock.
