When Marc Bolan, front man of the folk-rock duo Tyrannosaurus Rex, split from his bongo player, shortened the name to T. Rex (in 1970), cranked up the electric fuzz, and dabbed a couple of glitter spots under his eyes for [i]Top of the Pops[/i], a legend was born. In one fell swoop, Bolan had placed himself at the vanguard of glam rock: relive the glitter and the glory here with the debut T. Rex single, "Ride a White Swan", and all the monster hits.
