Comment:

As comforting as it is to hear unique spins on Christmas classics like "Frosty the Snowman" (now draped in the Cocteau Twins' dreamscapes) and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" (a delicate, piano-led Pedro the Lion), there's nothing quite like hearing sleigh ride originals that are completely random. Like, well, the surf guitar action of "Sleigh Ride" or any of the following left-field selections: the battery-powered melodies and manic speak-singing of Wesley Willis, the rockabilly revivalism of Holly Golightly and the Reverend Horton Heat, the gloriously glacial grooves of Low, and our personal favorite — Sonic Youth's "Santa Doesn't' Cop Out on Dope."
