Taylor Dayne
Comment:
With a lioness' blond mane and a voice to match, it's little wonder that Leslie Wunderman just had to reinvent herself — initially as Les Lee, but finally settling on the more glamorous Taylor Dayne. "Tell It To My Heart," the breakout hit from Dayne's 1988 debut album, blasts out of the speakers with synthesizers stabbing and drums pounding at full-on hi-NRG velocity, pushing the young singer to the front of the dance/soul diva pack. Dialing down the tempo as it ratchets up the soul quotient, the sweetly sensual "I'll Always Love You" should not be confused with the Dolly Parton/Whitney Houston track from The Bodyguard. And one-woman hit factory Diane Warren provided Dayne with her first #1 hit, the laid-back breakup ballad "Love Will Lead You Back." Though temporarily retired from the business to raise a family, Dayne has re-emerged with a new single, and has an album and tour scheduled for 2008.
