Comment:

Yet again, no hardcore on this one...just metal. This tape was made for Devynn for her birthday in May of 2002. The title of the compilation was taken from the amazing web-based resource, Blood Sisters (http://www-kzsu.stanford.edu/~hannah/). All bands are from the heavier realms of metal (death, gore, doom, thrash, black) and all bands have females on vocals. Only a few of the groups are all-female (Ebonsight, Astarte, Mythic, Sacralis, Dracena, November Grief). The songs range from 1983 to the present. The Sinister track is a Possessed cover.

wow, someone remembers Acid (great debut album), Sacrilege, Achrosticon and Detente (Dawn Crosby RIP). a hardrock/metal-category wouldn't be such a bad idea, i guess. a while back i donated an all-metal mix too (and a hard-rock mix, something different IMO) but i filed it under rock/pop

why is it that to be considered as a "woman in (enter musical genre)" it is necessary for there to be female vocals. granted, the most prevailent role for women is on vocals, but damn, women on guitars, percussion, whathaveyou are as if not more integral to the songwriting/music-crafting process. let's hear it for the ladies... and not just their voices.
