great mix. but i do think a few of these bands (gang of four, wire...) had a great deal to do with better DEFINING punk.

I don't know - I think this defines punk, rather than merely poses. You have a problem with Gang of Four? Clash? Stiff Little Fingers? Maybe I don't get your gripe. Great songs, regardless.

ok then. let's trace back punk to it's actual concpetion...1960s...no, probably 1950s. hmmm. if we're being definite here i'd say definitely mid-1930s. now THAT is bor-ing. 'x started punk'. 'y didn't have anything to DO with the start of punk'. my eyes are already closed.

These bands are all great. I have no idea what your problem with them would be.

Jesus you people are way to uptite about punk rock. I love British Punk. i just think it's funny how the Brits try and claim they started the whole thing when American kids were laying down the foundations of punk in the sixties with bands like Count Five & The Sonics. besides who gives a shit what i think? i sure don't give a shit what you think.

saints are australians, but all these bands are great, and if you read "please kill me" by Legs Mcneil and Gillian Mccain
you can find what punk means ;)
