Comment:
The newest installment in my long-dormant single-artist "haunted troubadours" series, clearly inspired by lengthy exchanges with Mr. Lally about which songs should appear on a Roky comp. My biases in favor of his acoustic and 13th Floor Elevators work are clearly shown here, although the absence of "Don't Shake Me Lucifer", "Postures (Leave Your Body Behind)", "She Lives (In a Time of Her Own)", "Kingdom of Heaven", "Be and Bring Me Home", "Hungry for Your Love", "Save Me" and so many others may force me into doing a Vol. 2.Feedback:
great mix !
Looks great Rob! Fab 13th floor tracks, i have not heard so much Rocky solo things, i can't say nothing about them.
Lou Ann Barton! I'm lost after the first song, but the rest has definitely piqued my interest. BTW, are you open for trades? I'd still love that Dennis Wilson mix.
Yes Yes Yes. Well done, Rob. When you get around to deciding which, if any, of my mixes you would like for a trade, put this one at the top of my must have pile, please.
a lot of classic "weird" rock here
A good mix, to be sure. Obviously, I favor the more band-oriented stuff. But you'd expect that. I'm not quite as into the "recorded in a closet" sound.
You've got some of my favorite slices of Roky here...., going up!
Fine stuff, Rob.
This looks great Rob. Now get crackin' on the Michael Jackson single artist mix! ;)
I'm not into slick production where it isn't *called* for, i.e. on Roky Erickson songs. lol Can you only imagine how horrible a non-slick MJ song would sound?! (Slick MJ is bad enough...)
This looks very good, and would be a nice complement to Sean's mix. You two have nicely covered the Roky spectrum!
that's exactly what i was thinking, buglady. i'm sure a lil compare/contrast session btwn the two mixes would prove to be informative. now if ion and i can only talk them into both doing a disc for mj. ah, i dare to dream!
Great mix & great artist!
That first 13th Floor Elevators song is my favorite!
