The artist known affectionately as Shaky — a former milkman from South Glamorgan — had plied his rock 'n' roll trade as frontman for the Sunsets for more than a decade, followed by a lead appearance in the [i]Elvis![/i] musical, by the time he charted with Buck Owens' "Hot Dog" in 1980 — Owens, by the way, liked Shaky's arrangement so much he borrowed it for himself. Once Stevens had taken a cover of the Rosemary Clooney tune "This Ole House" to #1 in 1981 the floodgates were open: he became the best-selling male U.K. singles artist of the entire decade. Rediscover his old-school Presley-esque charms with this pocket-sized sample of his best tracks, from the electrifying "Marie, Marie" to seasonal favourite "Merry Christmas Everyone".
