After collaborating with members of Ottawa's the Wooden Stars on the 1999 EP [i]Will You Still Love Me?[/i], Doiron released the full-length [i]Julie Doiron and the Wooden Stars[/i] featuring "The Longest Winter" — the alliance bore fruit, as the album picked up a Juno award in 2000. The next year's [i]Désormais[/i] is an album of largely French-language material (with the exception of "Don't Ask") featuring the wonderfully measured "Au contraire."
