Comment:
A band I make no excuse for loving. Like most everyone, I was introduced to them through their sole US hit, "Boys Are Back In Town". Over time, I discovered & now favor, their early Celtic rock three piece days to the later twin guitar attack. Although, eventually I will make a mix covering that period also.Feedback:
On a recent trip to Ireland, I was stunned to see how iconically they're treated there. Apparently, a "local boys make good" mixed with "died too young" thing
once upon a time, back in 83 Phil played a solo gig in my hometown and after the show, he and the band come to the club where i worked as a Dj (mostly rockmusic at that time)John Sykes come up to me with a lot of beers and we starting to play our favourite songs and when the club shut down, Phil ask me to the party at the hotel but i who was a little tired/maybe h=rny went home with a girl instead, six month later he was dead BTW a cool mix looking forward to the next one
This looks awesome, my friend. Please send me a copy ASAP...
...to the Black Rose...! Saw 'em in St. Louis in '80 or '81...great show....Mr. Lynott could get it!
You're right Sean & they still have a hugh fan base in the UK. Much more deserved than Queen, IMO. Peter, that's a great tale Peter. I spot that '83 Sweden gig on boots frequently. Think it's even getting a legit release now. Any recollections of the actual gig?
YES! I too have come to favor the early stuff but make no excuses for loving the later as well.
again, i'm woefully ignorant, but have compleet faith in anything with the lo-fi seal of approval.
good stuff. they were a kickass band. sadly missed on the rock scene
