[i]Neighbours[/i] fugitive Natalie Imbruglia showed there was far more to her talents than soap when debut single "Torn" stormed into the higher reaches of global charts in 1997. Since then, along with a couple of movie sorties — [i]Johnny English[/i], [i]Elise[/i] — she's delivered a clutch of albums full of glistening, emotionally charged pop. "Beauty on the Fire," from 2001's [i]White Lilies Island[/i], is a glorious, moody, electro-styled club ballad, while "Sanctuary" and the title track from 2003's [i]Counting Down the Days[/i] showcase the rocker tendencies she clearly loves to indulge. An environmental campaigner, Imbruglia has given her home an eco renovation, but there's nothing green about her mature, ever-polished sound.
