Comment:
Dave and Phil Alvin were the brothers that Dorsey and Johnny Burnette never knew they had, and their band — aptly named the Blasters — dug up roots like a roto-tiller on speed. Blues, rockabilly, country, good ol' 4/4 hunka hunka burnin' rock…it was all part of the Blasters kit bag — along with the love-him-so-much-I-can't-stand-him fussin' and feudin' that Ray and Dave Davies, Phil and Don Everly, Liam and Noel Gallagher, and others have writ large into the rock history books. But don't let the tabloid yakety-yak get the slightest bit in the way of your enjoying their music, because they sure didn't. Every riff of the guitar, every honk of the sax, every whap of a rim shot crackles with the authentic soul of a guy who spent his last ten bucks on a Hasil Adkins reissue instead of dinner without even giving it a second thought.
