One of the most talented and original outfits to emerge from the Latin electronica genre, Paris-based trio Gotan Project is single-handedly responsible for the hybrid known as electro-tango. The Project's debut, [i]La Revancha del Tango[/i], was coolly futuristic yet respectful of traditional tango structures. In 2006, the masterful [i]Lunático[/i] explored more song-oriented [i]tango canción[/i] territory, again enlisting the melancholy vocals of Cristina Villalonga — "Celos" is the kind of morbid ballad that packs genuine heart-breaking power. This definitive anthology includes a balanced mixture of Gotan's hits, b-sides, and the remix of a Sarah Vaughan tune.
