Comment:

so tomorrow evening, i and a few friends will drive off interstate 80 onto the bonneville salt flats and camp. this is the only place i know of where you can run uninhibited for miles with your eyes closed, completely losing yourself. very eerie, dry, desolate, clear. these are songs appropriate for the experience, or at least they try to be.

Killer. If you are listening to this there, it should be freaky indeed.

wow running on salt flats with eyes closed for miles must be a wonderfully weird experience. i've never done anything like that but i am a runner so i can quite possibly close my eyes and replicate the experience without actually driving anywhere. the only thing i've ever done that comes remotely close is to turn off the headlights of my car, while driving on a long stretch of road @ 11:30 PM with no moonlight and seeing how freakin' far i'd go without hitting a deer or swerving off the road or even catching the attention of a cop or something. maybe i shoulda' had this mix on the last time i did that.

a follow-up: the trip was a success, even though there were some minor changes on the program and we ended up listening to more clean than a lot of the scary/noisy tracks (the place is unnerving enough as it is). thanks everyone.

YES, absolutely fucking great. The Clean, Bowie, Lips, Chris Bell, Nick Drake, Meat Puppets (again), Galaxie 500, Mogwai and Stereolab songs are *all* top-notch. I think a trade should be in our future...
