In its classic formation, power trio Mahogany Rush — frontman and guitar god Frank Marino, bassist Paul Harwood, and drummer Jim Ayoub — muscled its way into the '70s with debut album [i]Maxoom[/i] ('72), invoking the spirit of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. But it took a couple of years before the outfit truly came into its own . . . with the resplendent, inventive [i]Strange Universe[/i] ('75).
