Josh Turner
Comment:
South Carolina boy Josh Turner has a voice as deep as a well and warm as a lazy summer afternoon — making it just about perfect for doing what Turner does best — building a bridge between country tradition and the music's here and now. It was 2003 when he broke out with his signature tune, "Long Black Train," a gospel dazzler about living in the light (or, maybe more to the point, what happens when you don't) and took the country world by storm. The songs that followed, including the big-question smash "Would You Go With Me," and the honky-tonk promise "One Woman Man" revealed his singularly satisfying talent for filtering the best of the past through his contemporary soul. Even his collaborators point to the past and present, in a powerful duet with the legendary Ralph Stanley on "Me and God," and a musical hook-up with superstar Tricia Yearwood on the beautiful ballad "Another Try." Our Josh Turner Essentials brings you his best, from a boot-scootin' "Firecracker," to the seductively masculine drawl of "Your Man," to the down-home twang of "Backwoods Boy."
