Back in the days of keytars and Jheri curls, Prince wasn't the only funkateer mixing rock, pop, and R&B into a quirky, hit-making brew; even his Purpleness knew enough to check the Time. A walkin', talkin' issue of [i]GQ[/i] magazine, Morris Day had a regal style, but that didn't keep him from beating the bushes for booty-shaking grooves like "Jungle Love." When the Time performed "The Bird" in Prince's film [i]Purple Rain[/i], they showed the world Motown-worthy dance steps electrified by their flashy funk.
