Neil said it, in the liner notes to [i]Hot August Night[/i]: “The stage, she’s the god-damnedest woman you ever saw . . .” And he [i]romances[/i] that woman like Casanova and Clooney rolled into one. The Diamond concert phenomenon boils down to this: his sound, his personality, swells to arena-filling dimensions, yet [i]everybody[/i] in the audience knows he’s singing to [i]them[/i].
