Fervently championed by the prog cognoscenti here in the U.K., the Alan Parsons Project (and its cofounder's solo work) found a broader fan base in the U.S. and Europe. A collaboration between Parsons — a sound engineer who had worked with the Beatles and Pink Floyd — and his manager, Eric Woolfson, the Project debuted with [i]Tales of Mystery and Imagination[/i] (1976), based on the writings of Edgar Allan Poe, and peaked with 1982's [i]Eye In the Sky[/i].
