What, no Marillion? Now this is some serious sour grapes :-) I like the rock as much as the next person. However, prog rock does have it's value. By the way, I'm no Zappa or Sting fan, but I can (on occasion) get behind the first few Yes albums. So kill me! On a lighter note, I do like the mix, you mean-spirited Swede, you.

Kill all hippies, eh? Wasn't that you who was just championing Richie Havens on someone's mix in the past 24 hours? ;-) Bring on the rock, I say. Just save a small niche for a couple of the non-Sting, non-ELP prog stuff. :-)

It's a great mix. I'm with Sean and Rob on the Prog v Punk argument. There's a time and a place for all music, with the notable exception of Barry Manilow :-). Wasn't it Duke Ellington who said "there's only two kinds of music, good and bad"? I especially like the White Stripes, Dirtbombs and Thin Lizzy cuts, Peter. let's keep the debates going. It's healthy, funny and produces great answer mixes!

I have to put my two cents in. Where would a band like Faith No More fit in? By most accounts they are considered progressive but they are often all over the place. Maybe they kinda undermine this wall of division or maybe I'm just playing devil's advocate or maybe this makes me sound all full of it. Anyways nice mix, though I can't imagine including The Dirt Bombs and not The Detroit Cobras.

Yeah, where DOES Faith No More fit? For a band that was so unjustly ignored when they were together, there are sure a lot of bands out there now that are trying to sound just like them. Well, like the heavy parts, anyway. Not to name names (Korn) or anything. My props to the Cheap Trick and BOC tunes. Woo!

Lumping Sting w/Yes and Zappa? Your dislikes are as varied as the artists you embrace! Let's face it, anyone can find at least one song by ANY artist that makes them grimace or, at the very least, doze off. That said, this mix has me awake and grinning :-)

ha ha ha, this was funny, i was born and raised in the sixties and starting to like punk at 14 in 1977, so in my early teens all the progbands and the older hippies always looking down at us when we were trying to get a gig and at the split concert there was always a lot of band with names like Pegasus. zymblod or anything from the Tales of the ring and they always had a drumsolo for at least ten minutes. Of course they became our enemies. Of course Sting is no hippie but it's easier that way ;-). Faith no more should be in the bizarre sex category, at least Mike Patton should be,

I never thought I'd see someone include Yvonne Elliman's version of "I Can't Explain" in one of their mixes. Nevertheless, some cool stuff here, Peter. But: Cheap Trick, David Johansen, Blue Oyster Cult, THIN LIZZY? You must be joking, my man. :)

no joking in my mix, the first 3 albums by Cheap trick are all great, David Johansen are difficult but if you once been NY Dolls so are forgiven for a lot. Blue oyster cult are one of the best "heavy metal" acts of all time, just imagine Patti smith playing more songs like "rock'n'roll nigger" and you get it, and don't you ever disrespect Lizzy, awesome cool dudes.

And just for the record, all, I'm not saying I prefer prog to punk AT ALL--bring on classic punk! I'm just saying that there's a place for some of the better prog stuff.

Why on Earth would anyone consider David Johansen a joke?! Well, ok... But you know, you and I are funky but chic!
As another hater of ELP, Yes (retch),Zappa, and Sting (retch and piss blood!)I see a parallel universe of drinking, dancing, and screaming.
In other words: Good one!
