Comment:
Another entry in my series of quasisymmetrical mixes; this one is intended to give a 'net friend of mine an introduction to 70s Genesis, post-154 Wire side projects, and the indie artist I pimp the most, Illyah Kuryahkin. The rest are just random goodies. The Genesis songs come from their three best albums: they are, in chronological order (as well as the order in which they're represented on this mix), "Foxtrot," "Selling England by the Pound," and "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway." Colin Newman is Wire's lead singer; these songs are from two post-Wire (well, they're pre-Wire too, I guess) solo albums. A.C. Marias is a video director who recorded a Cocteau-ish album with Wire's guitarist, Bruce Gilbert.
The cover image is a clipping I found in the Jan/Feb 2002 issue of Tape Op magazine. It's an embarrassingly bad picture of J Mascis, and I thought it fit well with the title of A.C. Marias' song (which also happens to be the title of her album), so I adopted said title for the mix. Neither J Mascis nor Dinosaur Jr. has anything to do with this mix or the material therein.

Feedback:
Dandy mix! I love that A.C. Marias record, which sounds a lot like the newer Wire stuff, but with a female vocalist. Nice to see someone else has discovered it as well.
See, I'm not the only early Genesis fan around. Take that, P the Swede! Like it.
nice title. you mean like Chandra Levy's leg?
Nice mix. I agree that A.C. Marias' stuff is great - I used to listen to this great radio show a few yrs back that played AC Marias a lot.
Ooh, that looks nice. But it needs a little more Illyah.
