Comment:
A concise and highly erroneous tour of the U.K's contributions to the field of popular music. Sorry for leaving out Slade, Jobriath and Cilla Black; that's for Tape Two.Feedback:
Some really nice picks Walter. That XTC song is one of my all time favorites. Props as well for the Martin Newell, Zombies and Badfinger.
Erroneous? Nah! Great Stones pick, among others, and I like that you included examples of Lennon AND McC's songwriting. For the first time, I can't concur w/Senor Moe, as I prefer The Loving and King For A Day to any of XTC's early stuff (I guess I just prefer the taste of their psychedelic sugarcubes on my tongue ;-p
Actually I'm a fan of almost everything XTC has done, with the exception of the first two albums, which are a bit to quirky IMO. Now give me another psychedelic sugarcube to suck on...
Hmmm, anyone passin' out sugarcubes? Much to like here Mr. Helfer! (I'm gonna' sit on the XTC fence.., I LOVE that pick and enjoy all their later stuff as well....AND the Dukes of the....! Psychedelic cubes, amen. She IS alittle lighthouse!)
My own two cents: I thought I
was the biggest XTC fan in the
world but even I broke up a complete
catalog by giving away
my copy of "White Music". I
found it unlistenable.
