Comment:

Long before the Postal Service matched self-effacing sentiments with sparkling synth-pop perfection, the Pet Shop Boys led the electro-insecurity charge from the '80s onward, turning out tunes whose propulsive dance-floor force made for a cunning contrast with their witty-but-woeful words. The men who masterminded Liza Minelli's 1989 comeback have always tried to tell us that life is indeed just a cabaret, and they've been around long enough to laugh it at all. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe made it their mission to prove that you can dance your butt off without turning your brain off, so feed your head and please your feet with their wicked-but-wise techno-pop treats.
