Comment:

O.K. I am probably going to the AOTM hell for this mix as it precariously borders on plagiarism but, then again, I guess borrowing and reworking given materials is what jazz is all about and Hollywood has certainly never been afraid to rehash other people`s work. This is basically what the title says it is. Rhino Records had issued a wonderful 2 CD set of classic Hollywood swing & Jazz numbers (many of them previously unreleased). The only problem for me is in the set's sequencing; some of the transitions are a bit too abrupt and the album seems to bounce around too much. So, what I did, was boil the set down to one re-sequenced CD: more pleasing to my listening digestion and easier to take in the car, etc. The St. Germain track, which uses elements from a John Lee Hooker/Miles Davis soundtrack collaboration to The Hot Spot, was obviously not part of the Rhino release but I couldn't resist injecting it into the fray. Finally, if anyone from Rhino sees this, please don't sue me.

Nicely done. I think if anyone from Rhino sees this site, we're all going to jail!
