The Alarm
Comment:
The Alarm — fronted by the hoarse, yet phenomenally powerful, Mike Peters — filled the bulk of the '80s with a bracing, storm-force, idealistic brand of rock 'n' roll that made them perfect touring companions for U2, and produced a fervent body of grass-roots support that has remained loyal into the 21st century. Signature battle cry "68 Guns" was performed for the first time on Top of the Pops after the band had been called in as a replacement for Public Image Ltd. The Alarm finds its second wind thanks to a prank, in Next Steps.
