Jazz, jungle, and exotic electronica — or should that be electronic exotica? — percolate in the work of Swedish duo Koop (Magnus Zingmark and Oscar Simonsson), and the result is every bit as cool and imaginative as you could hope for. Although principally a sample-driven studio outfit, Koop has made a habit of mutating into a mid-sized swing orchestra for the purposes of live performance, and for 2001's [i]Waltz for Koop[/i] — later re-tooled into [i]Alternative Takes[/i] — the pair roped in the vocal talents of Cecilia Stalin and Yukimi Nagano. That said, the couple's remix prowess is peerless — here, Astrud Gilberto ("Here's That Rainy Day") and Afro-Peruvian star Susana Baca ("Afro Blue") feel the benefit of the Koop treatment.
